Customer Privacy Policy    
ShopModernHostess.com and Cynthia Fontan Wedding & Event Planners are committed to protecting your privacy. Any information collected will only be used to process orders and facilitate communication between Customers and us. We will not disclose, rent or sell your personal details. We respect the privacy of every individual who visits our website, and our privacy policy reflects the high standard of integrity and customers service you have come to expect from us. We collect information to help us enhance your online experience; respond to your online inquiries as well as to communicate with you about products, services and promotions. Neither ShopModernHostess.com nor Cynthia Fontan Wedding & Event Planners will collect any personally-identifiable information about you (your name, address, telephone number or email address) unless you provide it to us voluntarily, and we will not share any of your personal information with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Shipping Policy    
Orders received prior to 3pm EST will be placed the same day. Orders received after 3pm EST will be placed on the next business day. We require 1-2 full business days to process (verify order/contact you with questions) your order. Personalized items whether embroidered or engraved take 3-5 working days before they are shipped. Some items may ship separately.

  • Custom-designed items like invitations, chocolates, mints, soaps, lip balm or bath fizzies require 5-10 business days for processing, review of design and final approval.
  • We suggest providing a business address for deliveries when possible.
  • We do not require a signature for delivery; however, we are not responsible if a carrier leaves your package unattended at your home.
  • We are also not responsible if a carrier makes several unsuccessful delivery attempts and then returns the package to us.
  • If a delivery is not possible to your location due to an incomplete address and the package is returned to us, we will need to recharge for the delivery to resend it again.
  • If you call to say you did not receive an order and if the carrier can provide delivery confirmation we are not able to issue any type of replacement. We will assist you in filing a claim with the carrier if such a rare incident occurs. Nearly all our shipments can be tracked from our manufacturing facility to the delivery address.

    We do not ship to PO Boxes, APO Boxes, or to FPO Boxes.
    We do not ship outside the United States.

Chocolates and Tin Mints:
Orders are shipped within 10 business days from the time we get all materials i.e. orders, images, artwork and approvals. Orders arriving after 3:00 pm EST are considered next business day. Email proofs are not necessary but can be provided for an additional charge of $12.50 per proof. Design changes are discouraged since it increases the possibility of error and for design integrity. Ordering instructions MUST be clear and exact. i.e., spell out the month if you want it that way, use capitals if you want it all in capitals, etc. Please do not assume we will know what you mean. Please use Product # and Design name when ordering.

Custom-designed Invitations, Napkins, Matches, and Affiliate Products have their own shipping rates and are displayed within the ordering process for those products.

Handling Fee
ShopModernHostess.com distributes orders from Indiana, New York, Idaho, Georgia, and Maryland therefore; a standard handling fee of $3.95 is added to all orders.

Rush Orders
In the event you would like to request a rush order on any of the items at ShopModernHostess.com, please call us during normal business hours at 347-235-5543 or send us an email at info@ShopModernHostess.com. We will do whatever we can to accommodate you.

Returns (refunds), exchange, and cancellations Policy:   ShopModernHostess.com stands by the quality of our products and customers service.

  • Returns and Exchanges: We pride ourselves in offering the highest quality merchandise. Upon receipt of your order, please open your box immediately and inspect all of your items. And please adhere to the following terms. Customers have 14 days to return any unwanted merchandise, with the exception of custom-designed items, personalized items, confections/food items, gift baskets, jewelry, and printed materials, which may not be returned or exchanged. Returns will not be processed without prior approval, so please call or email your request for authorization before returning any merchandise to receive an authorization number for your return. Any item authorized for return must be received by ShopModernHostess.com in UNUSED, UNWORN condition and in its original packaging. Customers may choose whether they would like to exchange, receive an in-store credit, or receive a refund. Please be advised that shipping and handling fees are non-refundable and customer is responsible for return shipping costs, and a restocking fee of 20% for all orders. No unauthorized returns will be accepted.
  • Cancellations: You must cancel within 24 hours of the time your order was placed and received by ShopModernHostess.com. You may call us or email us with your order number when requesting a cancellation. Custom-designed (mint boxes, stationery, chocolates, etc.) and personalized items may not be cancelled at any time. Any exceptions to this policy will be at the sole and complete discretion of ShopModernHostess.com.
  • Incomplete Orders or Damaged Items: If after opening your package you find that you have not received your order in full, call or email us within 5 days of receipt of goods. Be sure to include your order number and item description. If you received a damaged item or one that has defects in the materials, you must call or email us to inform us of the return, return it in its new condition and original packaging, including a copy of the invoice and an explanation of your return. Requests for these exchanges must be reported to us within 3 days after delivery and must be authorized by personnel before returning.
  • Non-Refundable items include the following: perishable items such as food items, gift baskets, mints, chocolates, soaps, candles, personalized or engraved items, special or custom-designed orders, and large orders over $200.
ShopModernHostess.com reserves the right to refuse returns that have not been authorized and those items that have not been returned within 14 days. Absolutely no refunds, returns, or exchanges will be made after 30 days of receipt of goods.

Do you have a store?

No. ShopModernHostess.com is an online store only. Our ability to extend savings to our customers is largely due to the fact that we do not have a physical store location. We do have several warehouses throughout the U.S and are able to ship your order to the location of your choice be it home, work, event location, etc. We attend gift shows, trade shows and conventions to actively search for manufacturers and/or distributors with the lowest price and view the quality of all of our products before we offer them to our customers. We make every effort to keep our prices current, competitive and error free. However, human error can occur when we are updating the products on the site and with our vendors raising their prices. Therefore, all prices are subject to change without notice!

Can I request a catalog?
We do not offer printed catalogues with the exception of our gift basket catalogue. We do however offer an extensive online catalogue with hundreds of products and if you register with our site you will receive a printed catalogue of our gift baskets twice a year. ShopModernHostess.com’s website is updated weekly to bring you up-to-date pricing, the latest products, delete or discontinue products, and spot light our “Hot Item of the Month”. For your convenience you can use our “Email a Friend” option to share product pictures with your family and friends and get their feed back.

Online shopping is easy and safe. All payments are processed by a Secure Internet Payment Transaction Service. Online transactions are handled with industry-standard SSL encryption so you can enter your information with confidence.

How do I shop online?
First: Select the item you want to purchase by typing the number of items in the “quantity” box on the product description page. For personalized, monogrammed, or custom-designed items enter the necessary information. Be specific and clear; please do not assume we know what you mean. For example, if you want the month spelled out then you must spell it out. Monogram should be written as you want it for example; a monogram for Cynthia and Jose Fontan would be: CFJ (three letters) or F (one letter). For apparel select the size and color.
Then: Click the "Add to Cart" icon to place the product selected and the desired quantity into your shopping cart. From here, you can either choose the “continue shopping” or “checkout” option. At any time during shopping, you can review the items in your shopping cart by clicking on "View Cart" at the top of each page. Here you will be able to change quantities, delete items or cancel the entire order before it is placed.
Finally: When you've completed shopping, click the "Checkout" button found at the bottom of the cart and follow the onscreen instructions to proceed through the checkout process. (You’ll be able to change the contents of your shopping cart at anytime throughout the process prior to clicking the “Submit Order” button on the Review page.) At the check out page you will automatically be directed to PayPal for payment processing. Please note: You do not need to have a PayPal account to make a purchase. To use your credit card click "Don't have a PayPal account? Click here." You will be taken to a secure page to complete your credit card payment information. After your order is submitted, a confirmation page will be displayed and your order number will be provided. You will then receive an email, to the address you provided, confirming receipt of your order. If the order confirmation email does not arrive within 24 hours after submission, please email us. If you have any questions when placing an order, send us an email and include your order number. We ask that you understand that ShopModernHostess.com is a small, hands-on business, so kindly allow us a day or two to respond.

Do you offer samples?
ShopModernHostess.com understands and appreciates your desire to view, touch, and feel a product before making the commitment to purchase a large quantity. However, samples are limited to 3 “different party favor items and stationery items only” and purchasing one of an item is also considered a sample. Samples are subject to shipping charges plus a handling fee of $3.95. If you have any questions call us at 347-235-5543 or email us at info@ShopModernHostess.com. Remember to include your name, phone number and shipping address.

New York metro area residents: We display our items at various bridal shows and trade expos throughout the city. Sign up to receive emails announcing when and where we will be so that you can view items up close and personal, purchase gifts, and place orders.

How can I place an order and how long does it take?
ShopModernHostess.com is available online 24 hrs (www.ShopModernHostess.com). Feel free to shop ‘till you drop on our secure website. Orders received after 5pm EST will be placed on the next business day Monday – Friday and take 2 - 3 full business days to ship. Engraved or personalized items could take up to 5 business days before they are shipped (see item description for additional information). Custom-designed items like invitations, chocolate bars, mint tins, soaps, lip balm, and bath fizzies take 7-10 days but up to 15 days to ship after receiving pictures, finalizing design choices, and verifying proofs (if requested). If you would prefer to consult with us before placing an order feel free to email your questions to info@ShopModernHostess.com don’t forget to include the item number and description along with your question. Please give us a day or two to respond.

What are your accepted methods of payment?
We offer several forms of payment: Visa and MasterCard, Discover and American Express, or PayPal. All credit cards are securely processed by PayPal. Be advised that “You do not have to set up a PayPal Account to purchase from our store”! To use your credit card, when transferred to PayPal, click "Don't have a PayPal account? Click here." You will be taken to a secure page to complete your credit card payment information.

How is sales tax assessed?
Sales tax will only be assessed on those who reside in the state of New Jersey. Sales tax in New Jersey is based on 7% for items other than clothing. Orders delivered to areas outside of New York City will be charged the county tax rate accordingly. Sales tax will not be assessed on items shipped outside of New Jersey.

What is the delivery time?
Most orders ship within 2-3 business days. Custom-designed products (mint boxes, custom-designed stationery, chocolates, etc.) take 7-10 days because they require additional time to verify design proofs. Personalized or engraved items will ship within 3-5 business days depending on the size of your order. Be sure to check the product page for specifics. If the item is out of stock and we need additional time, you will be notified and you will have the choice to cancel the order, wait for the order, or change the order, the choice is yours! Can I track my order?
Yes. Just register on our site and be sure to include your name, contact information, and email address. We will provide you with an order confirmation email and once your order is shipped you will receive an email from us that will have your tracking number(s) and an estimated time of delivery.

If I choose Next Day Delivery, will I get my order tomorrow?

Unfortunately no, realistically we require at least one business day to process your order and 2-3 business days before we ship your order. It may take longer if products are on backorder. When we are ready to ship (the ship date), we will select the delivery method you have chosen (Next Day, Two Day, Ground). If you have chosen Next Day Delivery, then you should receive your package on the next BUSINESS day after the ship date. Likewise, if you have chosen Two Day Delivery, then you should receive your package two business days after the ship date.
